REMODEL HARRISON SCHOOL Preliminary plans for the remod eling of Benjamin Harrison school are expected to be drafted when the school board meets next week. The work is to Include installing of a new heating system, laying of new floors, installing new plumbing equipment, making interior decora tions and rewiring the building. This work is estimated to co3t 110,000. The ordinance appropriating $800. 000 for the construction of a new school building proposed to be lo cated Just south of Tod Park as planned by the board of education some time a 50. Is said to have been shelved. This for several reasons. Members of the board have Intimat ed, however, that this fall, probably in August, the appropriation for the proposed school would be passed. GIRL SHQ T BY LOVER IS DEAD Another homicide was added to the list of murders on the books of Coroner E. E. Evans of Gary yes terday. Unconscious most- of the time since she was shot by Frank Wag oner, 26 years old, her sweetheart, a week ago when her parents re fused his proposal to marry the daughter, pretty 15-year-old Sofia Kovoclch died at the Mercy hospital id Gary. "Why did he shoot me," is about the only words she spoke to her parents, who have been constantly at her bedside since the tragedy a week ago. After firing five shots Into the breast of the girl. Wagoner calmly reloaded the revolver and fired three shots Into his own body. He died instantly. Worry over the parents refusing to let him marry their daughter .s believed to have been the motive for the suicide and murder. Wag oner, it is said, had been a persist ant admirer for months, but the hild lover cared little for him. When Wagoner asked for the aughter's hand In marriage, the irents told him the girl was too oung and for him to wait a while ntll she finished her schooling and education. A week ago Wagoner made his last visit to the house. Sofia and her mother were washing dishes at the time, the father pnd a boarder haying left a short time before to go to their work in the mills. Wagoner asked to speak to her privately and followed Sofia into the pantry of the home. Once in side, he closed the door. POLICE MAKE THREE RAIDS John Gazdick. who was arrested by Sergeant Eenak on a warrant sworn out by Sergeant Girard for violating the liquor law in his place of business at 615 121-st street was found guilty and find $130.00 Andrew Sabo was arrested for selling l.quor in his place of busi ness at 405 Stleber street by Offi cers Saltsman, Assenheimer, Brown and Vidovich, on a warrant issued by city Judge. His case was con tinued until today. Joe Mlhal was also arrested on the charge of violating the liquor law at 215 119th street. Upon in vestigation Officers Nizcolkivich, Wagner. Wawizyniak and . April Air plaine passenger transportation be tween Chicago, St. Louis and Kan sas City the first commercial air ship line in the Middle West will be an established fact by May 1. promoters of the Aerial Navigation Company, as the new commercial airship company will be .known, have announced. The giant ship to be used by this commercial air line is a tandem trlplane. It will frave a capacity of thirty passengers and will have smaking and baggage compart ments. When loaded to full capa city the monster of the air will weight 14.000 pounds. The entire framework of the ship already has been campleted. A. H. Bernier. designer of the DeHavi- land-4 type plane, which has been used extensively by the United States Government, Is superintend ing the construction of the gigantlo craft. He says it is a matter of only a short time before the ship is com pleted. The craft has shown a perfect test with a six-foot mode; in an air tunnel. It is equipped with two 450- horsepower Liberty motors and, ac cording to mechanics, has a maxi mum speed of 125 miles an hour, The schedule from here" to Chicago calls, for five hours' flying time while the trip from here to St. Louis calls for three hours In the air. A"he corporation is planning to charge Just twice the fare for aerial transportation tha.t the railroads charge per mile. Thus an airtrip to Chicago from Kansas City will cost the passenger approximately 40. The airplane cabin is 8 feet 9 Inches wide by 42 feet long.
