CORNELL, IX TBRKB PARTS. fllK series has been prepared with unusual cars by an ex pericccr-i i.d accomplished teacher, with the view of meeting taw waat long and keenly felt by war best instruc tors of a systematic series of School tieogvaphy. The plan ta original, progressive, philosophical and di vested of ail matter not properly belonging to the sobject The divisions of ideographical science are simply aad appro priately arranged under their respective heads. The defini tions ar far mere than usually exact. The text is simple and concise, and the map and the map instructions com bine higher decree of excellence and system than can be found in any other Geographical works. While the three took, forming the series are prerressive, each one is complete in itself, and may beused for the grade of scholarship for which H Is designed, independent of the others. Although it is enly a few months since the Primary and Intermediate first appeared, they have been adopted as the standard text books in the publie schools of New York, Brooklyn, Albany, Rochester. Philadelphia, Washington, PittsHurg,7Cincianati, St. Louis, Indianapolis, and numer ous other places. This work has been recommended by the Board of Educa tion ef Indiana, as may be seen by the following extract from a circular issued by the Department of Public Instruction, August Hfch. lrii: "It is believed the text books reeomniended hy the former Board, and now in extensive use in oar echists,re such as so furnish no valid cause for change except the Geography, for which the present Board, after due consideration and pa tient examination, hare resolved to introduce Cornell's se ries, which, in their judgment, is sufficiently superior to the one formerly recommended, to fully justify the charge.
