Mourse, the wild-cat operator of Pittsburg. The land leas ed lies in the vicinity of Messick and Moreland, not far from the "Friday" well which was struck near Hagerstown. It is expected that some test wells will be sunk on the leases within a short time. The Standard Oil Company has not been slow, either. In the north ern part of the county, near Middle town, the Standard people have leas ed over 3,000 acres, and, it is said, will soon commence active operations So far oil has only been struck in paying quantities in two wells in Henry county, namely, the wells on the Clark Hosier farm, southwest of the city. These wes continue to make good and every available foot of ground in the locality is leased. The big companies seem to have faith in Henry county as a promis ing field. Byan to Meet Melody. The organs of the body are working poorly, or not at all, and you are not getting the nourishment needed. This soon impoverishes the blood and in stead of throwing off the im purities, distributes it all through the body. This brings disease and misery. Feed the nerves with Dr. Miles' Nervine, a nerve food, a nerve medicine, that nourishes and strengthens the nerves, and see how quickly you will get strong and vigorous. "My wife suffered with nervousness previous to a recent attack of typhoid fever, but after her recovery from the fever, she was much worse, and could hardly control herself being exceed ingly nervous when the least excited. She was very restless at night, and never had a g-ood night's rest. She also suffered much from nervous head ache. Dr. Miles' Nervine was recom mended by a friend. After the first three doses she had a good night's rest, and at the end of the first week's treatment she was wonderfully Im proved. Continued use of Nervine has completed her entire cure." "Word has been received here that fire in the woods Friday near Williamsburg, destroyed standing timber valued at several thousand dollars. For a time it was feared a number of buildings would be des troyed, as the flames, fanned by a strong wind, swept across fields to another strip of timber. Hundreds of men worked for hours before the fire was under control. The present drought is the worst experienced here in thirty years. Cisterns, wells, springs and streams are dry in many places, and live stock must be driv en miles to water in some communi ties. FOR PARDON Of John Terrell a Petition Circulat ed in Court. Bluffton, Ind., Dec. 11. The first petition for the pardon of John Ter rell has made its appearance in the circuit court and it was circulated among officers of the court and coun ty officials. It was readily signed by a number of the officials when pre sented by Attorney C. E. Sturgis, and duplicates will probably be cir culated all over the county. Even though Terrell should not be granted a pardon, his attorneys have considerable grounds for hope for him gfrom the supreme court, before which the case was taken on appeal; but it will be some time before that is heard. They believe that there are enough errors in the case to secure a new trial, if not an absolute rever sal of the findings, but will try to secure a pardon, for fear Terrell will not live to the end of the litigation.
