Pittsburg. The Crmmfrcxal of
Wednesday says:
Thi3 river is still closed, but TTjg
ice wis running out of the Mononga
hela and Allegheny Rivers yenterday,
than for several days past. As the
thermometer rose and the sua came
out quite warm and the wind "veered
round ' to the southeast, the counten
ances of the river men began to light
en, aad hopes were expressed that the
end of the severe weather was near at
band.
Christmas was freocrally obcerved
on board the boats in port, by pood
dinners and plenty of egg-nog. The
St. Charles had many guests, and
from the looks of the debris of the
dinner, it must have been a feast of
fat things and a flow of spirits.
Cincinnati. The Commercial of
Thursday says:
We have no change to note in the
river. It is falling, with considerable
running ice; not enough, however, to
prevent tne Newport ierryboat irom
makinc reeular trips. Ocr dispatches
from tbe West and Southwest indi
cate the near approach of colder
weather, which is unfavorable for
navigation.
The committee, appointed bv the
Cincinnati Councils, Chamber of Com
merce and Board of Trade, to visit
LouisviUe and confer with General
Weitzel in the interest of the Port

Lo CISVILLE Tb e Courier-Journal
of Tbuisday says:
Tbe weather commenced moderat
ing Tuesday evening, aud continued to
grow milder until G o'clock yesterday
evening, at which hour the wind shift
ed to the northwest, and began to
blow crdd again. At 2 p.m. the ther
mometer stood at ,ky, and at G p. if.
A licit snow commenced falling
night before la.t, and continued to fall
at intervals up to noon yasterday,
melting about ss fat ss it fell. The
ice was running in increased quanti
ties, insie-iticg that some gorge above
bad Riven away. As to when navigation
will open, no one can tell, acd si! that
is said or written is but conjecture.
There has been no arrivals or depart
ures since last 1 riday, and the proba
bilities are that it will be some days
yet before we wiil have the pleasure
ot announcing the arrival or depart
ure of a boat at this port.
Ibe Armadillo, cut down by the ice
Sunday night, has been fully repaired,
and 13 now all U. IV.
