county, Ky., is just now being made the
ubject of malignant persecution by ex-
rebels of tbat county.
In 1862, Mr. Ward was compelled by
- General Juuiant then commanding at
Frankfort, to point out such men in
AVooiiford county as were or bad been
active rebels. A number of these were
, subsequently sent to Louisville in charge
. of Mr. Ward, who paid their hotel bills
. stt the Gait House, to prevent them from
' eing put in the military prison the
night they arrived in Louisville. He
also, the next day when they were
"placed in the military prison, gave each
of them what money they thought would
'. he necessary for their comfort, and sub'
aequer.tly used Lis influence to procure
- their release, in which be succeeded.
Now, these iograte rebels bring suit
against Mr. Ward for falsa imprisonment,
laying their damages at an aggregate" of
