This evror proved the fallacy ot this aud cost him the hard earnings of a lifetime alter ciose aud rigid economy. FLORIDA. Wednesday K. Loyhourno of Gainesville shipped two carloads of orongos to northern points via the Bavannah, Florida and Western. This is the largest shipment of the season from that section. Most of the Spanish moss shipped from Gainesville goes to Chicago. It is said that the demaud is now much greater than the supply. The moss business in that region is rapidly developing into a great industry, and yet is but in its infancy. With more machinery and greater number of em ployes the traffic in moss would soon bo made to grow into large proportions. Last Thursday morning T. J. Roberts’ gin house near Tallahassee was discovered to be on fire and In a few ininuteg it was burned to the grouud. The fire was of an lnceudiary origin. At tho time it was burned it contained about I,'JOO bushels of cotton seed and sixteen bales of outton, besides the machinery. Everything was a complete loss. Mr. Roberts estimates his loss at $3,500. There was no insurance on the property. St. Augustine Newt: With Air. McGuire a representative of tho Aries inspected the new Waring automatic flush tanks, that have Just lieen put iu for the I'once de Leon, Cordova and- Alcazar hotels. These tanks are set to fill and Hush every two hours, when they aoud a solid column of water 100 feet long (1,500 gallons) rushing the whole length of the sewer to the sea. These tanks aro liko great cisterns, filled by a pipe from the artesian wells. In the center of tbe cistern is a stand pipe con taining the patent automatic siphon arrangement that, on the iustont the water rises to a certain point the siphon acts, and In two minutes emp ties the whole 1,500 gallons. Iu addition to tho disoharge pipe there is a 6-lnch air pipe to let the fresh air follow the column of water through, thus rendering an accumu lation of sewer gas an impossibility. It has beun demonstrated conclusively by scien tific men that flushing a tank at stated in tervals is by far the best method of keeping them pure, and the Waring system is un doubtedly tho best in use. In addition to the flush tanks the same principle has been applied to kitchen use, and everything that could possibly become offensive, is imme diately sent by Hush tanks to the sewer and so along to salt water. Gainesville Leader’. There was an oc curence in Gainesville a few days ago that most aptly Illustrates the difficulties in dis criminating in the bestowal of charity. A well known lawyer received ajpra-isnt from Texas in the shape of amsgmfioent blooded puppy. His wife at once became an ad mirer of the dog and bestowed on it every care necessary to Its oomfort. Tbe lady is oue of those noble-hearted women, whoso heart is touohed by even the faintest cal! for assistance, and whose soul goes out to the unfortunates and the miserable. Not many days ago a puny looking woman entered her gate, carrying a small pail of withered vegetables. In broken accents she told bow she wanted to sell all the vegetables and procure a sick woman madioine. The law yer’s wife couid not withstand the appeal, and, though desiring no vegetables, she fished out a small sum of money and gave it to the woman. She also found some of her husband’s clothing to be the worse for wear and bestowed severul pieces of apparel on the poor woman. The poor woman was thankful aud the lawyer’s wife entered the house, glad of her ability to do a good act. The woman returned and asked for a piece of bread, sayiDg that she was faint with hunger. The favor was had for the asking and once more ttie good lady returned to her room, pity iug the unfortunate. As soon as the kind hearted lady’s back was turned the woman beckoned to the fine young dog with the bread. The dog s cupidity was aroused and thus she ‘’tolled” him to her home. Search was made for the missing brute. When the lady’s husband heard of the doings of the dog he at once oame to the oonelusion that the “poor unfortunate” had made away with his dogship. Straightway going to her house he found the missing canine, but before returning he warned the woman to make herself scarce around his bailiwliok. Before Breakfast Always use SOZODONT and rub it in well. It gives such pleasant relief from parched tongue resulting from sleep, promotes the healthful so cretions of the mouth. It will cost more for meat and such things, hut don’t begrudge it. ad. SUBURBAN RAIIiWATft, “ SUBURBAN RAILWAYS Electricity to Thunderbolt, Isle or Hope and intermediate points.
