Hon. A. W. Mcllendrie, republican candidate, for diatrict attorney, waa in Lamar laat week shaking band* with bia many friend* and looking over the situation. Wat, as be ia known by most everyone, ia a pro duct of tbia aection an be waa raised in Baca ooanty and educated in Colo orado schools. Jle ia one of the brightest of tbe young lawyers of the state and bia long experience aa a court stenographer makes him tbor* ougblj familiar with tbe detaila of bia new office. He is one of tbe ris ing young men of tbe state and bia large acquaintance and popularity all over tbe diatrict make* bia elec tion a certainty. Look out for him! He's from Baca county, and they al ways get to tbe front. During the two years since J. B. Trailer was unseated by the house of the last assembly we have heard much talk from the local dem ocrats about his being the victim of a corrupt deal maria by Alva Adams in an attempt to doublecross .Senator Teller. Alva is now the democratic candidate for governor and of course was immediately washed as white as snow, but a scrapegoat had to be fouud, and we see now Sena tor Barela ia it. It is true he was not a member of the house at the time but in the seriate snd it is hard to connect him with the alleged deal, and it is also true that one of his Mexican friends was unseated by the same deal, but he has turned repub - lican since and of course is guilty— just as Alva is now bound to be in nocent. Keoollect, however, that just twenty-four hours before Alva was nominated he was still guilty. A few hours do wonders sometimes.
