The teams representing the res
pective sixth grades of the Lincoln
and High School buildings, are batl
(Lng with each other in a football
(game this afternoon.
Miss Bennett left this morning for
Pueblo where she will visit for a few
days. Miss Bennett is an aunt of
Hex Bennett and came out to Colo
rado about a month ago for her
health.
It was reported that La Junta went
dry in the election there the other
day. This Is not true. There were
seven of the eight precincts voted
dry, but the eighth precinct is the
one that has all the saloons.
Mrs. Zoe Le Sage and hef daughter
Mrs. A. F. Brown ahd baby, arrived
this morning on No. 9. Mrs.
LeSage’s duaghter, Mrs. McFarland,
of Springfield, is critically 111, and
that Is the cause of her coming.
Dlstriot Judge Hunter, of Trinidad,
is in Lamar today, shaking hands
(with his many friends. He was glad
to get down where the air felt re
{publican, he said. He has been hold
ing court all week at Las Animas.
Trinidad will be here next Satur
day to play the first league game of
football this year in Lamar. Trini
dad sounds awfully bad, we know,
(but they were afraid to play LaJunta
and It Is a surethlng that we are not,
John Wilks came down from Las
Animas last night In order to see
the Rocky Ford-Lamar football game
today. He Is a member of the Las
Animas team and probably thought
he could find out Lamar’s good plays
He returned to Las Animas this
morning.
Mrs. T. J. Sayier, Mrs. Frank Say
ler and Mrs. 3. V. Sayier entertained
about thirty of their lady friends at
(the home of Mrs. T. J. Sayier on
Fourth street yesterday afternoon.
The handsome home was beautifully
decorated with chrysanthemums and
carnations for the occasion and each
of the guests were presented with
some of these as souvenirs. Five
■Hundred was the game played during
the aftemoon,and Mrs. M. L. Stewart
and Mrs. W. M. Dickinson were the
prize winners. Dainty refreshments
were served by the hostesses, after
the games. It proved to be a most
delightful afternoon for all present.
The Q. O. C. club entertained at
the home of Miss Edna LyVere last
night. The first part of the evening
(was spent in playing cards and par
taking of the delightful refreshments
provided by the hostess. After lunch
the party adjourned to the front
porch and practiced the ‘Barn Dance’
and a few couples got to be quite
experts in the mysterious step. The
boys gave several guesses at what
"Q. O. C.” stood for, among them
were: “Question of Conscience,
“Quiet Old Cranks," “Quit Old
Cupid" and “Queens .Of Colorado."

Town of Lamar, In the County of Prow
ers, State of Colorado, as ordered and
authorized by resolution of the Hoard
of Trustees of the said Town of La
mar, and in accordance with the details,
plans and specifications adopted and
prescribed by the Hoard of Trustees
of said Town, will be received at the
office of the Town Clerk and ltecorder
or said town of Lamar, in said Town
of Lamar, until 8 o'clock, P. M. on
Monduy the 16th day of November, A.
D. iyoß, at which hour all bids will be
publicly opened and read aloud at the
Town Hall of said Town. Upon open
ing the bids the Mayor will canvass the*
same and if any Is accepted will, with
out unnecessary delay, award the con
tract subject to the approval of the
Hoard of Trustees of said Town; but
the right is reserved to the Hoard of
Trustees of said Town to reject any

Town, of Lamar, Colorado, on Clay
Creek, the exact location being more

two (32), Township Twenty-four (24)
South. 1 Cange Forty-six (46) West of
the Sixth Principal Meridian. The work
consists of the construction of a dry
rubble subterranean collecting gallery
of small cioss section and the construct
ion of approximately 3200 linear feet of
1- inch pipe line, together with other
appurtenances, as will more fully appear
and be shown by the plans and specl
ficalions for said Section Number One
