Green from Florence. Colo rado, is looking for a farm to rent. He thinks this is a fine country. Francis D. Pastor!us of Colorado Springs is in Lamar this look ing after his business interests. T. J. Sayier made a trip to the Two Buttes Tuesday to Inspect the work on the Sayler building. The Y. M. P. Embroidery Club met at the residence of Mrs. Paul Denning last Thursday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Strain are In from McClave, Colorado, spend ing a few days visiting their friends. D. E. Cooper arrived home from Long Beach, California, Monda> and reports Mrs. Cooper’s health is improving. Mrs. W. H. Wheelock returned from a several months visit with her sister,Mrs. W. N. Slater. In Port Chester, N. Y. A. E. Bent is down from Denver and has his shoulder against the wheel pushing for Lamar for its newest enterprise. J. K. Householder left for Galena, Kansas, where he was call ed by a telegram announcing the death of his sister. J. V. Wirt Markham returned from Greeley Sunday night where he has been attending a meeting of the aoard of directors of the Normal school. Miss Vefhie Miller made a visit to I*as Animas Saturday and Sun day, and w’as the guest of Miss Pearl Lay. Miss Miller reports a fine time. The F. A. Mrs. Margaret Roy of Brandon, Colorado, was burled In the River Side cemetery Monday afterboon. Mrs. Roy was a native of Scotland ind was 84 years old. Miss Minnie H. Jones, sister of Prof. E. R. Jones, arrived in La oar Monday afternoon from Den ver. Miss Jones will visit with her irother and family for a few days. John Anderson, alias Miller, was lentenced to 20 days in the Coun y Jail, being charged as a confi— lence man. Anderson was caught >y Sheriff Simpson last week on a ’>anta Fe train. Frank Hays and wife of San •’ranciaco and now from New York 'ity stopped off in Lamar last Sun lay to visit their friends. Mr. Hays s an old timer in the Arkansas Val ey and Baca County. The new hoard of directors for the Prowers and Bent district is .loing some active work now, and here is considerable interest be ing taken In the proposition. The prospects for the successful financ ing of this great enterprise arc nurh improved. Mrs. W. L. Pollard and Mrs. Cas tle Church entertained the Baptist Indies Aid Society on Friday after noon of last week at the home of he former. A. large number were present. A missionary program vas rendered, the subject being ‘The Giant North West.” At the close of the program delicious Ice cream, cake and coffee were served which were enjoyed by all.
