J. Ellis, of this city, who has something of a reputa tion as a trance medium, has just performed what is considered a remarkable feat. A short time ago she was consulted by some people in this city who had been robbed of a harness. She went into a trance and told the owners where the harness was. She lo cated it in the Mississippi river and gave minute descriptions of the spot where it might bo found. The mail who consulted her did not have much faith in her occult powers, but yesterday a fishing party going down the river pulled up the harness at the exact spot where she said it could bo found. Visitors Lose a Game Battle By a Score of Two to One. The rejuvenated Bemidji- ball team is a clever bunch and one which the city should bo proud of and support liberally. This much is generally agreed since the game with liig Duluth last Sunday7 when the locals won from the visitors by a score of two to one. The game was one of the pret tiest ever seen on the home grounds. It was a credit to the winners and losers as well as thoroughly delighted the fans who saw it. It was not called unt.il five o'clock owing to_tho rain of Sunday afternoon and the impression seemed to prevail that it.had been called off. Emerson, Carl and Bongo, the three Planclrau Indians wore in the game for the first time and}The Mines was at first. The work of: the infield was snappy and error less and the hitting of the entire team was a big improvement over its' work in that line before. It-was a pretty game in every sense of the word. Both sides hit the ball but sharp fielding kept the hits down and made it a clever exhibition. The visitors secured their only run in the first inning and the locals got one in the second and* one in the eighth by bunching the hits. With the exception of the Crookston League team the Big Duluth's are the fastest team seen on the home grounds this season. Witt and Roy were the batteries for Bemidji and Porter pitched for Big Duluth. The sratne has resulted in in fusing more interest into the local situation and from this time on some fast ball may be expect ed by its patrons in this city. ~.W. A.
