OLDEST PRIEST IS DEAD.
Rev. Father Wm. Roy of Black
duck died Saturday in that village at
the age of seventy-six years. Father
Roy was the oldest priest in the
diocese of Crookston and his death
was a surprise to many as his condi
tion was riot considered serioua un
til shortly before the end. Tihe re
mains were shipped to Bemidji Mon
day and remained in state until three
o'clock when they were transfered to
the Great Northern depot..
The body was taken to Crookston
on the afternoon train where inter
ment was made today in Oakdale
cemetery in the special lots for
prlestB. Funeral services were held
from the new cathedral which was
opened for services for the first time
on Sunday.- Father Roy's funeral
was the first one to be held in the
Cathedral. Rev. J. J. T. Philippe
accompanied the remains to Crooks
ton and attended the funeral.

After two preliminary "meetings of
farmers around "Saum, it was decided
to have a social gathering at Sauna's
new schoolhouse on Sunday afternoon
February 9 and everybody interested

en to the hospital yesterday with a
serious attack of pneumonia.
Helen Burke, the two-year-old
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. J.
Burke, was taken to the hospital
for treatment this morning.

was a big crowd for such a little
school house. Everybody reported a
good time.

camp, attended the wedding dance at
Aure Saturday night.
On account of the anticipated need
of the Crookston warehouse, E. M.
Tschoepe will begin building at once
and expects to be In his now store-by
