renovated throughout, and is now in
condition to do first-class work.
William B rah id, one of the oldest
settlers in Grant county, is authority
for the statement that tho ground is
more thoroughly saturated with water
than it has been for twenty six years.
U. S. Marshal E. L. Hall and Chief
Deputy Loomis, of Santa Fe, are in the
southern part of the Territory after the
four desperadoes who now have five
robberies charged up to their account.
I. T. Frank brought a fine specimen
of mountain sheep into Eddy. Many

to De Lamar, Idaho, from Kingston
several years ago, is at present visit
ing her sister, Mrs. I. D. Hilty, of

A Mexican from the Mimbres was
on the market at Silver City with some
of tbe finest specimens of oabbage ever
displayed there. Wes Welty bought
one for thirty cents that weiged thirty
five pounds.
Randolph Kelley returned to Cerril
los from the Jemez country where he
has been during tbe summer months.
He is looking well, though he has not
fully recovered the use of his injured
hand and arm.
Allen Mclntyre, well known in the
southwest as an honest and hard work
ing man. has Beveral men sinking a
. shaft on his mining claim, known as
tbe "Silver Coin," about 1,500 feet east
of the Anaconda," at San Pedro.
J. F. Cave, who has been seriously
ill at the Cerrillos house for some
weeks, is considerably improved, and
no fears are now entertained of his
recovery. His father, B. B. Cave, ar
rived there irom Warrensburg, Mo.
The league of American wheelmen
has gained sufficient membership in
New Mexico to entitle the Territory to
a separate consulate. E. Randolph, of
Cerrillos. is tbe unanimous choice of
all the members of that vicinity for the
office ot chief consul. .
Pfof." Edwin Walters, who is well
known in the vioinity of Cerrillos, hav
ing formerly been there with the Santa
Fe placer company, arrived in that
place from Rio Arriba and Taos coun
ties, where be has been looking over
some properties for eastern people.
The Chinaman arrested at Albuquer
aue. while engaged in the use ot
opium, was fined $10 and costs, and
hia outfit cootisoated. The pipe is
about the size and length of a clarionet.
