A Minstrel Innovation.
Richards & Pringle’s Famous
Georgia Minstrels, which come t
the I)it man Theatre tonight offer a
decided innovation this year in a
beau iful first part called “Evening”
in which the audience really bo
; comes a part of the performance.
The scene is the building and
grounds of the beautiful ho,el Al
cazar in Sr Augustine, Florida. The
rise of the curtain reveals the com
pany assembled upon the porch
! and lawn of the hotel, dressed as
waiters and bellboys of the fam mis
hostelry, entertaining the guests,
who are supposed to be the audi
ence seated upon the lawn.
Sweet strains of music, of that
kind peculiar to the Negro race,
float over the auditorium, the eur
tain slowly rises, revealing one of
the finest effects of the scenic mas
ter’s art ever staged. The beautiful
hotel and grounds lie before you, a
thousand lights gleaming from the
windows. There is a second
pause, then the company breaks’into
the opening overture, and from ilia
time on the fun is fas. and furious,
and the program is varied enough
to please all tastes.
There will be a big parade and
concert at 2 p. m. and a second con
cert in front of the theatre at 7:30
o’clock in the evening.
