FOR APPOINTMENT OF WOMEN SCHOOL TRUSTEES A petition, requesting the ap pointment of two w men as mem bers of the city school board, will be presented to the city council Monday, by the presidents of the various women’s clubs of Browns ville. This was decided upon at the meeting of the presidents at the home of Miss Anna R. Kelly, presi dent of the Civic League, yesterday afternoon. As announced in Thurs day’s Herald, this meeting was held for the purpose of discussing the advisability of such a course. Those present were unanimous in ilie opinion that women, as well as men, should have a voice in .he man agement of school affairs. The names of Mrs. W. K. Menden hall and Mrs. M. E. Tracy will be proposed by the petition for appoint ment on tin* board as soon as any vacancies shall occur. Real Estate Transfers. Johnson county farmers have agreed to plant 4,350 acres of pea nuts in order to secure the installa tion of a peanut oil mill. It is reported that a farmer of Ohio has purchased 200 acres of land in Hale county and plans to irrigate and sow the entire tract in alfalfa. MONITION.
