He drove up in front of a business es tablishment on Elizabeth street, and left his horse and buggy standing next the curbing. When a cayuse siticks his head down in the vicinity of his forelegs, it is conc^ed that he is quite likely to stand unhitched as hitched. The gentleman went into the busi ness house, attended to his affairs and came out—just as many anothdt man has done in times gone by. How ever, here is where tie similarity ended. The horse and buggy were both there, the horse with a bang-dog ap pearance about him that seemed to indicate he had not changed position since the time the American soldiers built the pontoon bridge across the Rio Grande. The horse was there, all righf. The gentlemen helieved that part of what his eyes told him. But things otherwise seemingly were not as they should be, for the horse's head was where his tail should have been, in relation to the buggy, and the tail wTas where the head should have been. The gentleman, without asking the equine any questions, quietly backed him out Trom 'the shafts, right-about-faced him, hitched up and drove aw^ay, and all with never a w'ord. It is reported that there wa snickering in the neighborhood, but careful investigation could not verify the report. -o Real Estate Transfers.
