HUNTERS MEET
ARMED BANDS
Mobilization In Central Tam

Report
Centra] Tamaulipas appears in a
state of ferment, was the report of
Henry A. Roberts of Indianapolis,
Ind., state sales agent for Indiana,
who armed in Brownsville late
Thursday afternoon frcm the H. H.
Reeder ranch, 180 miles below Mata
tnoros, where he went last week on
a hunting trip.
Roberts and Hr. and Mrs. Reeder
left the ranch at 5 o'clock Thursday
morning. They encountered several
bands of armed horsemen, all mov
ing nert lias though to some mo
bilization point. They were not
stopped or molested.
W. H. Wood of Mission and H. L.
Moffett, banker of Chilicothe. Tex
as. who had been hunting in lower
Tamaulipas, also drove in from the
ranch.
News of the revolution was
brought to the ranch Wednesday by

who stated hr had brcn pursued by

Mr. end Mrs. Reeder brought
| their valuables to Brownsville, and
Mr. Reeder proposes to return to the
ranch by airplane Friday or Satur
day.
Whether the armed bands en
countered were rebels or federals the
party did not learn. The men were
not in uniform and the bands num

Roberts, who is a big game hunt
er and a writer for various maga
zines, went to the Reeder ranch last
week expecting to stay two weeks.
Ke secured permits from the Amer
ican and Mexican governments to
take arms and a camera into the in
terior. He reported he had enjoyed
excellent sport with both gun and
camera, securing several fine tro
phies which he was obliged to leave
on his hurried departure from the
hunting camp. He brought out sev
eral fire game pictures taken in the
wilds of central Tamaulipas and
along the Sota la Marina river.
“I have hunted in Canada and the
Northwest,” Roberts said, “but I
never enjoyed such sDort as Tamau
lipas offers.” he said.

I SERIOUSLY SPEAKING f
Let's be really serious for a moment. What makes
a bank really sound? It is CONFIDENCE To be sure,
but what establishes confidence?
"Well tell you. It is the men who conduct the
oank. Our officers are courteous and obliging, con
servative, friendly. Our Directors know what is go
ing on inside the bank. It is their business to know,
and they DO know.
IOur stockholders are among the solid citizens of
" erm-iunity. Our Patrons are people of influe.
ii and worth. All these beget confidence, the one thing
that builds up a strong bank.
