WORLD COURT ENTRY DELAYED Senate Not Expected to Act On Root-Hurst Plan Be fore December WASHINGTON, March 13.—(.T)— The "Root-Hurst arangements’' for American adherence to the world court has little chance to be taken up for consideration by the senate before the regular meeting of con gress in December. The new formula, as worked out by Elihu Root with Sir Cecil Kurst, British jurist, and other members of the rules committee cf the league of nations, must be passed upon by the senate foreign relations com mittee before it reaches the senate, and Chairman Borah is unwilling to proceed with it pending action by the league council, which meets in September. Proponents of American adher ence to the court, including Senator Walsh, democrat, Montana, have been hopeful that the senate might be able to act on the proposal at the special session which begins April 15. Although the proposal follows closely the language of the senate reservation to adherence bearing on advisory opinions by the court af fecting the United States, it con tains modifications which make its reconsideration r.ecesary. The league refused to accept the senate stipu lation that advisory opinions should not be given by the court without this government’s consent in cases in which the United States has. or claims to have, an interest, and Sen ator Borah wants to know its posi tion on the new formula before pro ceeding. Aged Pair Charged With Poisoning Of Well Put On Trial TEXARKANA. Ark., March 13.— UP)—Charged with attempting to poison members of a lumber camp clearing timber from their old farm home, Mrs. Nancy Lynn, 63, and her brother. Robert Morris, 61. went to trial here today for assault with intent to kill. The aged couple was arrested after more than 25 members of the lumber camp at Fort Lynn, Ark., had become suddenly ill last April. An analysis of the com munity well revealed that a pound of poison had been placed in it. Workers at the camp testified at a preliminary hearing to tracing a woman's foot prints from the well to Mrs. Lynn’s home. Towns Isolated In Rocky Mountains By Heavy Fall of Snow DENVER, March 13.—(JP)—Small towns and villages in the Rocky mountain region were marooned today by snow that covered high ways to a depth of three feet in places following a two-day storm. The storm area extended north ward to the Canadian border, spreading a white blanket over Montana. Wyoming and Colorado. It was estimated it would take at least two days to clear the roads. With warmer weather anticipat ed, it wras feared the melting snow would again send streams in the vicinity of Greybull, Wyo., out of their banks and cause further damage. A flood was experienced in that section last Sunday. From 18 to 24 inches of snow fell in central Wyoming where the storm spent its fury; twelve inches was reported in the vicinity of Cas per. In Colorado the snowfall was reported general except in the San Louis valley in the southeastern part of the state. Nine inches fell at Denver. BELT STRANGLES WIFE Royston, Eng.—Mrs. J. H.
