There is little question as to Gar cia’s worth in the minds of the customers who saw him dispose of Mike Golinda in six rounds at Mer cedes last Monday night. Carlos not only is shifty and clever, but he packs the K. O. in either hand. He has displayed his wai-i in some of the best rings in the country and would still be there if he had not run afoul of a boxing commission ruling. He carries the champion ship belt of Mexico at his weight. Apara, one of the few Filipinos to be seen in this section, has been bowling them over writh regularity since coming to San Antonio three months ago from the Pacific Coast. He expects to invade Eastern pugilis tic circles in the near future after his engagement here. He is said to be a masterful boxer who also carries a damaging blow in each fist. Apara tends toward the junior-welter divi sion and recently beat Ray Macias in ten rounds. His most notable win lately, however, was his victory over Gene Cullen, collegiate leather sling ing whiz of Austin. Cullen has been hailed as coming champion. This pair should put on the clev erest exhibition seen in the Valley for some time. If they do not step lively, however, they will be beaten out of the spot light by Gil Hernandez and Rober to Gomez, bantamweights. These small 113 pounders cramp more ac tion into eight rounds than the average heavyweights do in 30. They are said to have been going well in San Antonio and Galveston rings. These little rapiers know their stuff and-tbeir fights usually uncuff the hands of the most phlegmatic fan. Kid Monterrey, reported as a vic tim of a train wreck, wrill appear once more with A1 Mayen of. San Antonio as his opponent. Both bal ance the weights around 125 pounds.
