May I — Urt — ’ Still awaiting the tariff revision bill and unwilling to complicate the legislative situation by taking up other measures, the house again marked time today while the fans relief bill continued to claim the senate's attention. The house will meet again to morrow. Republicans of Its way* and means committee, meanwhile, are rounding out their draft of tfea tariff bill, and leaders have prom ised it will be Introduced tomorrow or Saturday. Hope of administration leaders for a vote on the senate farm bill this week Is fading rapidly behind the cloud of amendments proposed. Chairman McNary of the agricul tural committee. In charge of the . measure, expects to get a vote on the debenture plan, its most vigor ously contested section, this week, but some of the proponed changes to be considered afterward will consume a good deal of time. The senate judiciary committee was still confronted with the task of reaching a decision with respect to the right of Andrew W. Mellon to hold office under the law de claring the secretary of the treas ury shall not be interested in car rying on trade or commerce. The issue left over from yesterday was whether to call on Mr. Mellon for testimony at an open hearing, or to confine itself to an interpreta tion of his status under the old statute in the light of his stock holdings in various corporations.
