BOARD AGAINST FARM MOVES Farm Counsellors to Fight Professional Organizers By Marketing Act WASHINGTON, Aug. 1.—/TV— The federal farm board has decid ed upon a determined stand against "professional promoters' seeking to "organize” the farmers for benefits under the agricultural marketing act and believes it has fortified it self so that it will not be misled. Like any important commission when it is first inaugurated, the farm board has een swamped with applications for jobs, but to prac tically all of the co-operative or ganization promoters, the board "has shown the door” with the dec laration that the policy of the com mission is to build up existing co oper ...vs. Members of the board are convinced that, through educa- • tion. close supervision and a friend ly helping attitude, extant co-op eratives will be able to demonstrate their \alue to the farmers and thus Increase their membership. In another category are the ap parently large number of well meaning individuals who believe they can assist the board by "vis it ing” among the farmers and merely spreading a good will gos pel of co-opertaion—at a fair per diem remuneration. The business of protecting the farmer most effectively is expected by board members to become easier after the first scattered existing as sociations are more closley amal gamated. That Is expected to de velop after the centralized co-oper ative marketing corporations have been established and a national chamber of co-operative economics founded. , Three Cases Tried By District Judge Thursday was another quiet day in Cameron county district court. Wednesday afternoon saw some activity with Judge A. M. Kent con sidering three cases as follows: Dionisia Galvan et al vs. Juana Galvan Escoleda et al. on trial. Mrs. R. H. Gerlach et al vs. St. Louis B & M. Ry. company, de murrer of defendant I. & G. N. Ry. Co, to plaintiff's controverting af fidavit to plea of privilege sustained, to which plaintiff excepts. Cause ordered transferred to 73rd Judicial district of Bexar county. Texas. Paul P F. Mueller vs. Martin et al, motion to dissolve temporary in junction and restraining order overruled. In the latter case, Judge Kent granted temporary injunction re straining sale of plaintiff's property by the defendant in accordance with a* previous court order for re covery on a debt.
