Prof. Ortiz Gives Private Concert A private concert was given Wed nesday evening at the office of Dr. G. R. Yantis by Prof. Antonio Or tiz, well known violinist and or chestra conductor of Monterrey. Prof. Ortiz was accompanied at the piano by his daughter. Mrs. Aurora Ortiz Leyraud. Both have been heard in concert here and in Matamoros before. Songs were ren dered by Mrs. Leyraud and a younger daughter. The professor is planning to send the 10-year-old girl to Europe to study voice. A group of friends and music patrons were present at the con cert. Prof. Ortiz is going to open a music academy here in addition l? the conservatory that he maintains in Monterrey. The local school will be left in charge of his elder daugn ter, an accomplished musician. Mexican Generals Sued By Government MEXICO CITY. Aug. 29.—(/P1)— Generals Gonzalo Escobar, Fran cisco R. Manzo. Fausto Topete, Juan Gualberto Amaya. Marcelo Oeraveo. Francisco Urbalejo. Ro berto Cruz. Ramon Yucupicio and others including several former congressmen arc named in the damage suits for 103.000.000 pesos lodged by the government in the courts at Nogales and Vera Cruz, according to special newspaper dis patches. The suits are to recover the al leged cost to the government of putting down the recent revolution in which the defendants allegedly were leaders, and most of their property in Mexico has been seized to hold as guarantee of payment. Inspector’s Shot Wild; Man Wounded HOUSTON. Aug. 29.*—(JP)—Allen Howard. 24, was in an improved condition today at a hospital here after being hot in the shoulder yesterday by \>. H. Crook, federal narcotic Inspector. The shooting occurred yesterday when Crook, with W. J. Patterson, another narcotic agent, attempted to arrest a man suspected of ped dling narcotics. The suspect reach ed for a gun and Crook fired at him. the bullet going wild and striking Howard. Crook said. No charge was filed. Cafe Operator Held After Man’s Death OKLAHOMA CITY, Aug. 29.— —Lew Watson. 30. of Oklahoma City, a drilling contractor, was shot and killed in a basement lunch room in the downtown business dis trict today.
