MOWER SIDELIGHTS £ CAPITOL Eddie Dowling, "Broadway s Fa vorite Son." who is credited by his friends with never having been as sociated with a "nop" production on the stage, seems to have carried this personal tradition to the silver sheet, in his first all-talking, all singing venture at the Capitol theater beginning Thursday. "The Rainbow Man," his initial attempt in the movies, is the kind of audible-Screen material that the public likes. It has romance, pathos, comedy, action; and spark ling, catchy melodies which are in telligently played and sung as part of the plot. Al though the story has an aviation background and though it reaches a great dramatic crescendo with a scene in the air it is not entirely an air story. It is a human drama, which combines pathos and comedy played by a cast of capable actors an dmoulded into fine entertain ment. Tom O Brien. playing a bluster ing, bullying aviator who gets lick ed plenty for his trouble, demon strates that he is master of this type of role.
