SAN BENITO. Sept. 14.—Signing
of s sales contract with the Atlantic
Commission company, operators of
the 17.000 Atlantic and Pacific
stores In the country, lias been an
nounced here by the Texas Citrus
Pruit Growers Exchange by T. M.
Melden. manager.
The exchange has packing plants
at Mission. Mercedes, Val Verde and
San Benito, and is now building a
plant at La Feria. More than half
the Valley citrus output is shipped
through this concern.
The Atlantic and Pacific stores
will take 25 per cent of the output
of the Exchange, or about 15 per
cent of the total output of the Val
ley. according to Melden. The con
cern wanted a much larger per
centage of the Valley's output, but
the exchange would not divert more
than this amount to any one con
cern.
Melden expressed the belief that
this method of marketing Valley
citrus would be used to a much
greater extent as the output of the
section increases.

Doctor Goes To Study At
Harvard* Gillespie Is
Successor
Dr. R. J. Gillespie of St Mar
tinville. La., has been named direc
tor of the Cameron county health
unit, with headquarters here, and
will arrive some time before the
first of October to begin his work,
according to announcement al
members of the commissioners
court.
Dr. Gillespie will succeed Dr. B

M. Primer, who left to take special
work in public health at Harvard.
He was awarded a fellowship by
the Rockefeller Foundation because
of -unusual talent and devotion
shown in public health work.” He
was director of the health unit since
January.
The appointment of Dr. Gillespie
was made by the commissioners
court upon recommendation of Dr.
J. C. Anderson, head of the public
health department of Texas.
The new head of the county unit
has been in public health work for
more than ten years.
