This time she is a zippy, ambi tious little sales girl in a big depart ment store. She falls for James Hall, handsome floor-walker, but he begins to forget her when he gets a promotion from his boss. In order to make him think her more de sirable Clara deliberately establishes! a “rep" for herself as a Saturday Night Kid. a girl who makes a date with a different "swell guy" every Saturday night. Son of Mission Couple Honored (Special to The Herald.) MISSION. Nov. 8.—Louis Alsmey er, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Als meyer, and county apent in Flori da. has recently been awarded a gold medal and a trip to Chicago’ by the Soil Improvement commit-! tee of the National Fertilizer asso ciation in recognition of his out standing work. This award is made annually by the committee to each of the three county agents of the south whose work is most noteworthy. Mr. Als meyer is the first Floridan to re ceive the honor. NEW BUILDING STARTED HERE Clay & McDavitt to Be In New Location on Washington _. Construction wrok has been started on an attractive building in Brownsville, which will house the Clay and McDavi'. store, not. lo cated on Elizabeth street. The new building is located on Washington street between Tenth and Eleventh and will represent an investment of close to $10,000. It^is being built by the . oung es The structure will be 50x110 feet, one story, and built of brick, tile and stucco, with a reinforced concrete foundation. Ben V. Proctor drew plans for it and Proctor and Dudley have the contract for construction. Mater lal has been moved to the site and work on the foundation is being done now. Clay and McDavitt expect to move to the new location January first. This store is one of the old bus iness houses of the city, having been establish in 1912. It has been located in the present site, between Eleventh and Twelfth on Elizabeth street, for a number of years. The store carries complete lines of leather goods, including sad dles and harness, hardware, farm implements and sporting goods. Attractive display wtndrws will be furnished in the new location, and larger space will be available for the stock of the firm. Clay and McDavitt will occuoy the entire building. ---— Edinburg Baptists to Hold Institute (Special to The Herald) EDINBURG, Nov. 8—Special Baptist Sunday school workers will be in Edinburg next week to con duct an institute beginning Sun day and continuing throught the week. r.
