Aubrey Per kins, El Jardin, was extended to members of two clubs when the hostess entertained for both the El Jardin and Merry Matrons bridge clubs. The six tables of players enjoying the affair Included one made up of guests. The hostess used a profusion of pink radiance roses as decorations of the living room. Mrs. R. A. Cald well won high score prize for the El Jardin club, and Mrs. H. Kem per high for the Merry Matrons. - Mrs. W. Shaw received the cut prize. Mrs. Harold Street the traveler’s favor, and Mrs. Harry Crow, the cut prize. Serving of a dainty refreshment course concluded the afternoon en tertainment. • • • El Jardin Social Club Meets El Jardin Heights Social club was entertained Wednesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Charles Pinkley. ,Roll call was answered with quota tions on current events and Texas history’ was the subject of the pro gram. It was voted to continue the discussion of Texas history at the next program, Wednesday week, at the home of Mrs. Lewis Rank, a Guest for the afternoon were Mes § dames Willis. Dan Robbins. Ed Box. 1 Wilbank of Olmito. and Mrs. Pyle \ and Mrs. Hopkins of Dayton, Ohio. ^ Comings, Goings Mrs. Jesse Wheeler is in Houston for a week s stay. • • • Mrs. E. E- Taylor left Thursday morning for Houston where she was called by the illness of her grand daughter. • • • Mrs. W. R. Jones and Mrs. Geo Hamilton left Thursday for Edin burg to attend the Southwest Teach ers Association in session there. Mrs. Jones is to participate on the pro gram of the rural section. Mrs. C. L. Fort Ringgold. _ | Weslaco MANY ATTEND BANQUET CLASS ORGANIZATION Weslaco schools were well rep resented at the banquet and or ganization of the Valley Class room teacher's association at San Benito Tuesday evening. In the organization three Weslaco teachers were 'selected as officers. Mrs J. P. Kling man In charge of the interesting program. Articles were given by Mesdames S B. Thompson on Mex- j ico, C. A. Ligon on Africa. J. E. « --- Montgomery on Philippine Islands, R. G. Morrell on China. Mrs. Bryant James gave a read ing and talk on Easter. The house was prettily decorated with roses and gladiolas. Lovely refreshments were served to twenty-eight. • • • TACKY PARTY AT McKAY HOME Mr. and Mrs. Beed Lehman and Br. and Mrs. W. G. McKay enter tained at the home of the later Tuesday evening with an April Pool and tacky party, Mrs. Dan Coate and Harold Lehman won the prizes for tlr most tacky costumes Games of earthquake bridge af forded much merriment. San BenitoJ SAN BENITO TEACHER HEADS ASSOCIATION One of the outstanding features of the monthly meeting of the Val- j ley Association of Superintendents and Principals held here Tuesday night was the formation of a Class room Teachers Association, with Miss Grace McMillan. San Benito, as president. The meeting probably had the largest attendance in the history' of the organization, approximately 100 being present for the elaborate banquet served in the home econom ics bungalow under the direction of Mrs. J. P. Ellis. During the banquet music was furnished by the San Be nlto Glee Club and by Miss Barbara Barrier, who sang a solo. Colors of lavender and yellow were featured in appointments for the affair. Centerpieces were yellow roses clustered In white bowls in which the water had been tinted lavender. CLUB MEMBERS ARE LUNCHEON GUESTS At the Heath-Monger home Fri day at one o’clock Mrs. Ned C. Rigs bee. president of the Wednesday Morning Music club, entertained members of the club with a lunch eon. The home presented a springlike appearance, a profusion of spring flowers with pink roees and lark spur predominating, being artistic ally arranged about the rooms. Pink roses formed the centerpiece for the long dining table and for smaller tables grouped about the living room and library. A three-course luncheon was served. During the luneheon hour the guests were entertained with a de lightful musical program furnished by J. W. Fontenot. Robert Reed, C. G. Pettit and P. W. Horn beck with Mrs. F. W. Colmbery playing the piano accompaniment. Mr. Horn beck opened the program singing an old favorite. “I'll Take Thee Home Again. Kathleen.” by Westendorf. Mr. Fontenot sang. “Whisper and I Shall Hear" by Plccolominl with a violin obbligato played by Mr. Pet tit. Mr. Fontenot responded to an encore with "The Clang of the Forge” by Rodney. Mr. Reed gave two piano num bers, "Remembrance” by Davies and "Legende” by Slgne Lund-Skabo. Mr. Pettit played two beautiful violin numbers, “Berceuse” from Jocelyn by Goddard and "The Swan” by Saint Saens. The closing number of the program was a duet, “The Gipsy Love Song” by Victor Herbert, sung by Mr. Fontenot and Mr. Horn beck. • • • DINNER BRIDGE CLUB HOSTESS Wednesday evening Mrs. W.B. Hinkly entertained her dinner bridge club with an attractively ap pointed dinner at the Aztec Cafe. Later the guests gathered at the home of the hostess In North Shore Park for the games of the evening. Mrs. Knox Smith was the suc cessful player among the women guests and received the high score award. The men’s trophy was pre sented to E. E. Ogden. MRS. GENTRY IS HOSTESS Roees were lavishly displayed about the home of Mrs. Bruce Gen try Thursday, when she entertained members of the Luncheon Bridge club and several guests. The guests were Mesdames W. A. Tippit, David Johnson. Ed Brady, J. B. Nosier and M. W. Morris Mrs. Ralph Agar received a lovely pottery piece for success in scoring while Mrs. W. A.
