Donna High School Names Honor Studes (Special to The Herald) DONNA, April 30—The honor atudenta of the Donna high school are Aileen Scott, valedictorian, and Joy Sergeant, salutatortan. Ruth Sergeant, a sister of the salutator lan, came close to winning the posi tion of second honors. Max Bortensteln is first honor boy. Elgins and Sterling Are Restricted PHARR SCHOOL PLANS GIVEN Commencement to Begin Thursday With Annual Operetta (Special to The Herald.) PHARR. April 30— Commence ment activities in the Pharr-San Juan schools will begin Thursday when the Pharr grammar school presents the annual operetta. On May 2 Pharr Baptist church will entertain the seniors of the high school with a banquet and a lawn party, an annual affair. On May 9 the annual Junior high "open house" will be given. At this time the teachers of the junior high school and the students are hosts to the patrons of the school and the public. Representative dis play of the work accomplished dur ing the year is made and a program showing the accomplishments of the fine arts department will be rendered. Junior-Senior The evening of May 10 ha* been designated Junior-Senior night. At this time the juniors of the senior high school will entertain the grad uating class with a banquet. On May 11 the boys and girls glee clubs will render a sacred musical program under direction of Mrs. Lenore Motley. On May 25 the baccalaureate sermon will be delivered at the high school audtiorium. Senior class night will be May 27. The program will consist of clasr. will, class prophecy, class history, class songs, and other features. Graduation exercises for junior high will be held May 28. Dr. Joekel to Speak On May 29. commencement will dose the school activities for *he year. Dr. Samuel L. Joekel of Aus tin, professor in the University of Texas and in the Austin Presby terian Theological seminary': will deliver the address. Dr. Joekel will use as his subject "The Basic Qualities of Life." The senior class this year is composed of 36 members. Prospec tive graduates are Jack Anderson.
