July 4th Committee Will Meet Friday A meeting of the chamber of com- j tnerce Fourth of July committee, headed by Harry’ Faulk, will in all probability be held Friday at the; offices of the Borwnsville chamber, it was said Thursday. “Mr. Faulk is out of town at present, but will be here for the. meeting.” Mrs. A. V. Smith said ; today. Mrs. Smith is in charge I of the local chamber in the absence of the secretary1. Plans will be made to stage an elaborate celebration here on the Fourth of July, it is said. Mr. Faulk was chairman of the same commit tee last year. New Cooling System For Local Theater The installation of a new cooling system in the Capitol theater was announced Thursday by Jno. C. Fanning, manager. The new system will throw cool air from the sides of the buildings instead of from ♦he center over the screen. It will be entirely silent, he said. Work has already begun, and will be completed by the middle of next week. The entire organ svstem had to be moved to allow * the installation of the new cooling pipes. Maryland Governor Draws Opposition BALTIMORE. Md.. June 5—{JP)— Governor Albert C. Ritchie faced a light today for a fourth term with tne announcement of Mayor Wil liam F Borening of Baltimore that he would seek the republican no mination. Governor Ritchie, a democart. is an avowed wet. Mayor Borening stated only that he would run on the state party platform adopted Rural Route Extended (Special to The Herald 1 SAN BENITO. June 5.—By add ing 11.6 miles to rural free deliv ery route No. 4 out of San Benito. 141 additional families will be served by carrier W. O. Galloway, according to Postmaster Floyd S. Picture - f START WORK ON CROMACK STORE * * • • • * I Work on a complete remodeling pf the Cromack building on Eliz abeth and Eleventh began early this week, and when completed the building will be one of the most modern in the lity, Bert M. Crom ack said Thursday. The rear portions of the two store spaces adjoining Eleventh street are being cut into five of fices. and the front of the two will be remodeled into store spaces 50 feet deep, facing Elizabeth, the owner said today. A special transom glass is being installed which will throw natural light into the building. Floors will be of oak. The lower floor of the Cromack building will be set back 3 or 4 leer making the sidewalk, at pre sent 6 feet wide, between 9 or 10 feet in width. “Some of the office and store spaces have already been spoken for' Mr. Cromack said.
