July 2.—(.**)—A wo toan, whose business world is; baseball, today was determined to j fight alone, if necessary, even against an old warrior like Kene- j saw Mountain Landis. She was Miss Ruth Killilea. pres dent of the Milwaukee club of the American association who has de fied the high commissioner of base ball by filing suit in federal court against his transfer order on onp of her players, outfielder Fred Bennett. fWhen the American association of professional baseball clubs voted at its special meeting yesterday to adhere to Landis' decisions in all, disputes, the conclusion was drawn that Miss Killilea w’ould withdraw her suit to restrain the commission- i er's order. But the conclusion was wrong. Muss Killilea said she j would contest the case "The vote of confidence was very nice,” she said “But we can't win ball games that way. The judge can have the votes We want Ben nett.” The Bennett case has been post- ! poned until Commissioner Landis makes his reply.
