In this crypt-like grave beneath the floor of her Plymouth. Mass.,
home, the body of Mrs. Edith M L. DuBois was concealed. The hus
band, Charles E. DuBois. shot himself rather than face Investigation
of her death. He left a note saying she had shot herself and that he
concealed the body, fearing this would not be believed.

Standards, sound is heard farther
on a damp, cool day than on a dry,
hot day. They have found that
sound is absorbed more readily
when the air Is dry and hot than
when cold and full of moisture.

pert found 30 paintings which he
claims tn be the work of old mas
ters. Some of the artists represent
ed. he says, are Leonardo da Vinci,

Murillo, Velasquez, Tintoretto and
Holbein. An Amsterdam expert
declares them all to be originals.

But, according to the annual re*
port of the Committee on Sub
marine Configuration. and Oceanic
Circulation (whatever that Is), of
the National Research Council, the
sea is literally alive with invisible
organisms, germs, ana bacteria of
all kinds. Five hundred thousand
organisms to the cubic centimeter
(.061 cubic inch) of water have
been found off the Massachusetts
coast, with similar results being
discovered in the pacific.
