Thrilling Marine Drama Combines With Romance In 'Hell Below’ Sunday The mudh heralded thrill pic ture of 1933 is here. “Hell Below” termed as the big parade of the ocean only done in a greater scale. Here we have the hard-loving hard fighting hell hounds of the sea. New York critics concede "Hell Below” to be the most thrilling marine drama yet to reach the scheen. “Hell Below'” boasts of one of the greatest casts ever assembled Robert Montgomery, Jimmy Du rante, Walter Huston. Madge Evans, Eugene Pallette, Robert Young and thousands of others. “Hell Below” is taken from the thrilling novel “Pigboats” by Commander Edward EUsberg. The story is replete with engrossing action from start to finish, the camera depicting the plight of a submarine at the bot tom of the sea with the engines dead and its crew apparently doom ed, the battles between the under sea craft and four destroyers who attempt to destroy the submarine with depth bombs, and the iinal hair-raising episode in which the submarine laden with dynamite rams a fortress and thus blocks up the enemy base. But underlying the adventures of the submarine crew is the tra gic romance of a young lieutenant who falls in love with the daugh ter of his commander only to dis cover that she is already married I to a crippled English aviator. The stirring emotional conflict of the plot is lightened by the antics of ■'Ptomaine" Jimmy Durante who plays the ship's cook, the highlight of whose career is a boxing bout with a kangaroo. July 1.—A report on the Valley group meeting of Lions clubs held in Harlingen this week was heard by local Lions when they met at the Valley Waffle Shop Friday. Rev. W. B. Oliver made the report. Larkin reported that the San Benito Lions were ready at any time to play a return recreation ball gi|me with the Harlingen Lions whom they defeated by a big score recently. W. B. J Visiting Lawyers To Visit Mexico (Special to The Herald) WESLACO, July 1.—Among the plans of entertainment offered members and delegates to the Tex as Bar association will be a mo torcade to Monterey and Saltillo, Mexico. This is to give lawyers and members of their families front up-state an opportunity to go into Old Mexico under the guidance of an experienced tour conductor. The Brownsville Herald has been advised that this motorcade will be open to residents of the Lower Rio Grande Valley who care to make the trip. Those going from the Rio Grande would join the party at Laredo. Particulars may be obtained from the chamber of commerce at Weslaco. This party is due to leave on the morning of July 9 and return Wednesday, July 12. SAN BENITO—Mrs. F. W. Colm ery has received word of the death of a brother-in-law. Edward K. The legalization of beer seems to mark a return to the prosperity and happiness thay once enjoyed, but they find themselves confront ed by a problem that all America may face during the next few months. Hodgkins was elected chairman of the local unit of the Valley Prohibition forces Thursday night. The rally was held at the high school auditorium, with Reverend Thomas Joyner, pastor of the community church, as the leading speaker. Supt. of Schools M. C. Rushing was elected secretary. The second meeting of a series to be held here will take place Thursday, July 6. at the high school audit orium. Rev. c. E.
