M Del Gurto, state entomol it who addressed the citrus gathering result in appointment of the committee, proposed an alter ed plan of control of the fruit fly, lack of which has shortened the Valley’s citrus-shipping season for the past two years. He will intro duce a new type of trap for catch fjng the fly, the traps to be scat- i fered through the Valley's 75,0001 acres of orchards. A new bait will j be used in the glass traps, which j are shaped like a water-bottle, and which are expected to prove much i mere efficient than the screen traps | used heretofore. Extension of the citrus shipping 1 season by state and federal de-1 partments of agriculture will neces- I sitate a more rigid fly control. Del j Curio told the growers In advoeat- | tag use of the greater number and j improved type of traps for the: coming season. He expressed the j belief that the more numerous, traps will enable the trapping of adult flies and their eradication i before infestation can occur on a ' large scale.
