Aging Spaniard
ROME, Oct 23.—(jP)— Primo
Camera’s first heavyweight tittle

added little to the mammoth Ital

day.
A crowd of 70,000 strongly pre
disposed in Camera's favor, watch
ed the huge champion punch out
a decisive 15-round vl-tory over
Pauline Uacudun yesterday, cheer
ed him for a while and then booed
him just as heartily in the last
two rounds for his failure to knocx

Camera smashed the Basque
woodchopper all over the ring wttn
a zipping left and ponderous rights,
yet never oould floor a rival whose
courage alone carried him through
the full 15-round limit.
The crowd, which included Pre

couldn’t understand how a man

lingen, Promoter Ernie Stephen?; of
All-Sports, Inc., has announced a
fight card at the Athletic Club
arena for Thursday night, featur
ing Carlos Garcia and Chato Flores
in the 10 round main event.
Garcia is known as one of the
best junior welters operating in the
southwest, having fought in this
section on several occasions. Flores
is said to be a willing mixer.
According to Stephens. Bill Cab
ler of Brownsville will meet Sidney
Sheely a tough 155 pounder, in the
8-rouftd semi-final. Bat Morales and
Johnny Cruz are to mix in another
eight-rounder.

RIO GRANDE CITY. Oct. 23.—
The Rio Grande City high school
Rattlers put up a spirited battle last
week in holding the stroncr La Joya
(Cb-Jtus University) eleven to a
scoreless tie.
Earlier In the season La Joya had
defeated the Rattlers 31-0.
The R. O. C. boys carried the bat
tle to the opposition, and played
most of the time in La Joya terri- 1
tory although unable to punch over
a touchdown.

means pay dirt for A. and M., Rice
and Baylor. All three have suffered
previous 1933 conference defeats
and another set-back means their
virtual elimination as contenders
for this year s crown.
Frogs vs. Gents
The Texas Christian Progs will
battle Centenary coliege at Shreve
port in a non-conference affair in
the only other game on the South
west schedule.
The Aggies, pre-season favorites
for this year's championship, got
an unoleasant surprise Saturday at
Port worth when Texas Christian
stopped them, 13 to 7. They enter
ed the game a touchdown favorite
but oould do nothing with the
Christians accuracy through the
aid and terrific power on ground
formations.
The Arkansas Razor backs, hum
bled Saturday in a non-conference
game against Louisiana State, will
strive to retain their unmarred con
ference record of two consecutive
victories when they tie into the
Southern Methodist Mustangs at
Fayetteville. It will be home coming
day for the Raaorbacks. The Razor
backs simply were outclassed by
Louisiana State, 20 to 0.
Ponies and Hogs
The Mustangs, thanks to Robert
Wilson's smashing broken field run
of 78 yards, managed to get a 7 to
7 tie against Oklahoma A. and M.
The Pony crew will be ready for
Arkansas with a strong running
and passing attack, but beating
Arkansas on home-coming day is
just about the hardest job in the
conference. Back at Houston after
their 13 to 14 defeat by Creighton,
the Rice Owls will prepare for their
invasion Saturday of Austin where
they play the University of Texas
Longhorns In a game ' hat looms
as a toss-up. The Owls have whip
ped Texas twice In their last three
games. It was Texas last year, 18
to 6.
Expect Frog Let Down
The Longhorns played a powerful
game Saturday to get a scoreless
tie against Centenary college— a
team that makes a habit of beat
ing Southwest Conference oppon
ents. The Longhorns showed great
ly improved form by holding Cen
tenary after losing a 26 to 0 game
to Nebraska and a 9 to 0 melee to
the University of Oklahoma.
The Texas Christian Progs are
i bound to let down a bit this week
after being fired up to whip the
Texas Aggies. The Progs have one
of the best running attacks in
the conference and should make it
interesting for Centenary.
