COL. M. P. TRIBBLE.
He Has Been on a Visit to Newberry -I
Now Completing Work on Confed
erate Rolls.
Col. M. P. .'ribble, of Anderson
has been visiting old friends i
Newberry county during the pas
several days. Col. Tribble lia
been engaged for the past numbei
of months in making a coiplet(
roster of all South Carolina trcop
engaged in the Confederate service
during the civil war, which is to hc
a part of the general roster of all
troops engaged now being compiled
by the general government. Col
Tribble says that he has completed
862 rolls of aboit 67,000 n1am1es.
A report based on General Rivers
report, which was made at the re
quest of the Confederate govern
tient but not entirely completed on
account of the close of the wvar and
the inability of General Rivers tc
continue the work, gives South
Carolina only about 70,000 names,
so that Col. Tribble believes that
his rolls are now almost complete.
