Newberry college lost two names of
ball in Athens to the University of
Georgia on Friday and Saturday of
last week.
In the llrst game on Friday the
score was 10 to 1 in favor of Georgia.

Schubert Symphony Club.
The Schubert Symphony club will
appear at the opera house on Monday
evening, April 1!$. for the benefit of
Iho charity fund of the Flks. This
company needs no recommendation
in Newberry, and there should he a
large audience at the entertainment
on Monday evening.
The great popularity of the Schubert
Lady Quartette is not only their!
grand voices, but also because they
study to please the people. All their
encores are either amusing, or artistic
arrangements of those sweet old
melodies to dear to all American
hearts.

Meeting on Saturday Was Addressed (

in the court house on Saturday, and j
delivered an address. Mr. Stnibling .
has been active and prominent in the
work of the Farmers' union since its ~
organization. He is executive committeeman

in his district, concluding with
Newberry on Saturday, lie says (hat 1

stronger than at any previous time

Dr. Robert Adams, of Clinton, Will
Deliver Address at Closing i
Exercises.
The closing exercises of the Bonn- <
dary street graded school will be held
i:i the city opera house on Friday
evening, June .1. An interesting and
entertaining program will be arranged
for the occasion.
Dr. Robert Adams, who was recently
inaugurated president of tlie Presbyterian
College of South Carolina,
at Clinton, has accepted an invitation
to deliver the annual address. Dr.
Adams is a polished' speaker, and the
school is fortunate in securing him lo
deliver the address.
Made A Big Hit.
Raleigh in large numbers enjoyed
twice yesterday performances of
"When Smith Came lfome" at the
Academy of Music that were bright,
catchy and full of fun. Il was comedy
that was offered and the comedy
was of the merriest kind.
'file applause was frequent and
hearty, for the entire company is a (
clever one that gives a good performance,
one that is full of enjoyment.
Especially good were the speciallies
of .T. Early Hughes and Fay,
Colcy and bay. The team work of the
latter in songs and dances was something
excellent and pleased everyone.
The company is one that deserves
success, and all who desire an evening
of real enjoyment and mirth
should see Ihis play, which is a bright
and catchy one, presented by a capable
