Solved the Problem.
A little boy went into the village
s-)re tlhe Other a fternooli and waited
for some one to notice him. le <-ar
ried a sheet of writing paper in his
hand, at which he glanced from time
to time.
One of the assistants camt- him
finally. and the boy. readig:; rIn

:oice:
"My niorer wants ten pounds of
rice, fifteen pounds of sugar. twelve
pounds of oatmea, twenty pounds
of--'
"Hold )n!*' interrupted the as
sistant. Not so fast. Suppose you
zive me that paper and I 11 fill out. the
order!"
But the boy insisted on calling off
the articles himself.
Two other assistants were pressed
into service. and the three men pro
eeeded to do up the various packages
as the boy called off the articles. He
vi;)hrted all kinds of things, and he
asked the price of each article as 0he
went along, making a note of it on
his paper. The assistants had the
long counter stacked with packages
when the boy wound up with "eigh
teen pounds of flour.''
One of the shopmen called out the
price, and the boy continued, in his
sing-song voice:
"And show much money does my
mother have to pay for her things '
One of the men counted up the to
tal and announced it. The boy made
a note of the total and started out.
"Come back here! Where are vou
going'?" they cried in chorus.
"Why." said the boy, as he made
for the door "that's me 'rithmetic
lesson. I -ave to know it by morn
ing, or '" get licked."-Tit-Bits.
Cultivate.
A good memory of faces and facts
connected with them, thus avoiding
the giving of offense through not rec
ognizing people.
An unaffected, distinct and sympa
thetic voice, and avoid-the shrill tones
that one so often hears.
The habit of making allowances
for the opinions and feelings of oth
ers, as well as for their prejudices.
We cannot all see matters from the
same angle. If we did ours would be
a very dreary globe.
The art of listening without im
patience even to prosy talkers, and
of smiling naturally, even if you are
~hearing a funny story for the second
ime. It really will not hurt you to
