H. C. TILLMAN WILL BE j
IN RACE TO THE FINISH
!
Greenwood, S. C., June 27th, 1916. j
Mr. Editor:
From information which has come
)
to me from over the district, I find
that the report is being religiously;
circulated that I am going to with- :
draw from the race for congress. *The
foundation for tliis report is the fact
that I am a member of the Xational .
Guard, and will, in all probability, ;
be ordered out for duty in the Mexl- j
can crisis.
I am First Lieutenant of the Greenwood
company, Coast Artillery, and
if trie Coast Artillery is ordered to
mobilize, I would most assuredly re-!
spond to the call, but I know of
nothing in the rules of the Demo- '
cratic party which disqualifies a National
Guardsman from running- in
the Democratic primary. If I am ordered
out, I will conduct my campaign
as best I can be correspondence
and advertising but in no event
will I withdraw from this race. I entorori
if in crnnrl fflit'h hpliAvincr that.
