The sad death of Mrs. Lillian Saint Amant occurred recently at Waco, Texas. She was a daughter of Caot. J. A. Burns, of Privateer, and sister of Mr. Robert L. Burns. who lived here a few years ago and moved to Texas. She was romantically married about two years ago to Mr. Saint Amant, manager of Yellow Stone Kit's show, an account of which the public perhaps remembers. In a debate last week upon a bill to stop the sale and use of cigarettes, one member said that it was to help the parents of boys thrt he favored the bill, when Josh got up and remarked that parents did not need any special help, bat that they could help themselves if they would get a good shingle and use it freely. Prof. Arthur L. McBeth, an artist who reflects great credit to the negro race, gave exhibitions Monday and Tuesday nights, in Trinity A. M. E. church of the life and movements of Christ while on earth. The xhibits upon canvas were very fine, and ersons were given the opportunity of see ing pictures of men in motion like life. Some of the scenes were Christ washing the feet of the Disciples, the baptism of hrist by J'ohn, etc., all in real motion. Mr. Francis H.
