e IManning Outes. Pubished Every Wednesday WEDNESDAY, MAY 19, 1920 Mr. Joe Nimmer is ill with typhoid fever. Died at her home in Foreston on May 6th, Mrs. A. E. Martin. Mr. R. R. Jenkinson spent Monday in Kingstree. Mr. Leon Weinberg has purchased a Dodge touring car. Mr. Frank Barron of Charleston is in Manning today on business. Again we call council's attention te the cut-out nuisance on automobiles, M.r. D. Hirschr:anim who left here a few months ago to live in New York has returned to Manning. Mr. Harry Steinhardt is erecting a seven room dwelling on one of the Walker lots. Messrs. J. K. and B. B. Breedin are erecting homes on upper Church street. Dr. J. H1. Hawkins of Hartsville is spending a few days at the home of Mr. C. A. McFaddin. Miss Minnie McFaddin has accepted a position as one of the operators in the local telephone exchange. The bank statements in this issue will show the progressiveness of Clarendon county. Mr. Willie Geiger is confined to his bed with fever, but it has not been pronounced typhoid as was reported. Last Friday was general clean up day for Manning and nearly every body did their duty preparatory to the inspection. Work was begun yesterday on the "White Way." We are told that it will take about three weeks to com plete the job. Mr. S. L. Huggins has rented the vacant store of Leon Weinberg, and will move his 5-10-25 cents store there the first of January. Material is being placed for the erection of a large brick automobilc show room on west Boyce street foi the Clarendon Motor Co. Rt. Rev. Bishop W. A. Guery oi Diocese, S. Mr. A. Abrams has sold his stores. The store occupied by H. D. DuBrow was bought by Mr. DuBrow, and the handsome double store occupied by Mr. Abrams was bought by S. Katzoff. We learn the price paid for this property was $48,000. Mr. Lion of the South Carolina De velopment Board addressed a small gathering of citizens Monday morning in behalf of the above organization. The idea %,f this organization is to help build markets for produce, and develop all of the resources of South Carolina. A membership committee, chairman, secretary and treasurer and publicity manager were elected, and at the next meeting the final organization will be affected.
