. ?Mrs. R. M. Hays, of Greenwood, is
visiting relatives here.
?Mr. A. P. Gray, of the Olar section,

to see us one day last week.
?Mr. Calvin Rentz, of the Colston
section, was in town last Saturday.
?Messrs. D. R. and I. E. Tant, of the
Denmark section, were here Monday.
?Mr. J. A. Peters and his son were in
the city Monday and called to see us.
?G. Frank Bamberg returned last Friday
from the West, where he went to buy
stock.
?Mr. and Mrs. N. B. Rkoad, of.the
Hunter's Chapel section, were in town
Monday.
?Miss Lucile Folk is at home from the
Columbia Female College, for the Christmas
holidays.
?Mr. W. I. Johns, ol jBaiuoc, uarnwell
county, spent several days in the
city this week.
?Messrs. Grigsby Chandler and D. E.
Matheny are at home for Christmas from
Furman University.
?Mr. Robert Black is at home from the
Charleston Medical College, for the
Christmas holidays.
?Misses Esma and Pearl Delk left
yesterday for Atlanta, Ga., to spend
Christmas with relatives.
?Mrs. Julia A. Tant is at home again,
after a visit of a year to her married
daughter in Oakfield, Ga.
?Mr. Harry N. Bellinger is at home
from the Porter Military Academy, Charleston,
for the Christmas holidays.
?Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Klauber spent
several days at St. George this week, on
account of the death of Mr. R. S. Howell.
?Mr. and Mrs. P. N. Spann and children,
and Mr. and Mrs. H. F. Spann, all
of Florida, are spending the holidays with
v relatives here.

Sixty-two years ago a man named Jones
moved from "Kentucky to Dade county,
Missouri, taking with him his family of
ten children. At a reunion recently held
at Everton, 1,016 of his descendants were
' present and there are a few who were unable
to attend. Almost all his descendants
have married and settled in the same
neigborhooa in southwestern Missouri.
THE LONE STAR STATE.
Down in Texas at Yoakum, is a big
dry goods firm of which J. M. Haller is
the head. Mr. Haller on one pf his trips
East to buy goods said to a friend in the
palace car, "Here, take one of these Little

Wedded in Her First Shoes.
Baltimore, Dec. 19.?Charles A. Smith,
a widower, and Mary Ann Smith, both of
Gloucester, Va., came to Baltimore on the
steamer Charlotte, of the York River line,
to get married. As soon as they came
ashore they made for the court house'
procured a license and were married.
Then they returned to the steamer and j
remained there till it started back.
The bride and bridegroom created a J
good deal of discussion among the other j
passengers. The bride said she had never
worn a pair of shoes until Tuesday. Then !
she had donned them for the first time to
go on her bridal tour.
