A close game is expected and) local fans are urged to come out and see the Balfour team in ac tion. FILM BOOKING IN BLOCKS WILL CEASE (Continued from page one.) ment. The reason for the limitation of the cancellation privilege to pictures generally relased before July 15, is because that is the date upon which a new self-im posed system of censorship goes into effect. After July 15, the production code administration of the asso ciation of motion picture produc ers and distributors will function with increased authority, placed ii the hands of Joseph I Breen by Will H. Hays, president of the association. It wil lbe Breen's job to pass upon every film made by mem bers of the association. Previously a producer who felt his picture had not been given fair treatment at Breen's hands, could appeal to a jury composed of other producers and they were empowered to uphold or veto Brenn's decisions. In particular th code has been applied against: Crimes against the law, in which it was agreed not to present sympathetically; sex, primarily adultery, scenes of passion or seduction, perversion, white slavery or miscegenation; vulgarity, obscenity, profanity, ridiculing of religion; national feelings and repellant subjects, such a# hangings, brutality or cruelty to children. While the subjects were not specifically banned, it was was agreed they should always be in good taste. "Perhaps some pictures made in Hollywood have not beeji in good taste in the past," it was explained at the Hays' office. "It means we have not succeeded in meeting the public demand, which changes frequently. But you may be sure good taste will be of Paramount importance in the pic tures to be released in the fu ture." FLOWERS trc«7on Jackson's Flower Shop Fifth Ave. and Main St.. Phone 84 Case Cullings By E. H. CASE W. Phillips, East Flat Rock manager; has lined up a great baseball team. All of his ath letes look good both at bat and afield. In J. Jackson he has the best pitcher in the league. He holds opposing batters so well in check that he seldom needs more than four or five runs to win. But his teammates usually pile up a dozen or more scores behind his fine pitching just for the fun of hitting the old agate and cir cling the bases. Special information—Mills River and Fletcher must play a double header Saturday—July 14—in or der to make the schedule run out right. Managers, remember this. I D. Heatherly, Saluda's big slug ger, hits a home run in almost every game he plays in. His two circuit drives at East Flat Rock and Balfour respectively saved his team from suffering shut-out! defeats. Green River's 16 to 15 triumph over Fletcher was the season's biggest upset. For the past two vears Fletcher's classy players have been almost unbeatable on their own diamond. But this year their defense seems to have cracked. "Hard Rock" Sexton is warm ins: up his soup-bone these days prepatory to staging a comeback with the Valley Hill Hillers. After seeing the Carnera Baer fight on the screen English sports writers say that Camera is still champion, that he out pointed Baer by a big margin. They say that he did the more scientific boxing and hit Baer a million times with his left paw and that Baer won only the first and 11th rounds by attacking and hitting Camera which in some way is against the English rules. Insomuch as Camera never stay ed down long enough for a real count outboxed Baer and was still on his dogs at the end of the fight it is very easy to under stand why the Englishman would think that Camera won after see ing the scrap on the screen.
