An alleged thief named Denby es caped from the-county jail lastmidnight. He had been sick anu was in the jail hospital the roof of which has long been in a more or les dilaoidated condition. In repairing the door in one of the chapels in tho ancient church of El Carmen in San Angel, Mexico, some thirty bodies were found in a vault, and it was noted that the corpses had never been placed in cemented niches as is customary. This was many years ago, but it is now marvelled that no disease ever broke out in tbe town as a result of this careltKs placing of bodies under a church floor without taking precautions to seal thein up hermetically.
