There was one case reported today, Mexican child near the corner of Seo' ond ana Leon streets. This case was likely infected bv a case in that vlcin itv reported am oner the first when tbe house to house inspection was inau gurated two weeks ago. Dr. W. M. Yandell. state quarantine nffiner and assistant olty physician, protem, received a telegram today from W. F. Blunt. - health officer, as follows: "Can you get me a doctor to attend Bmallnnx at Barstow. Ward oounty. Wire J. J. Walder. Barstow. He will nav the doctor. Will be at Lookhart tomorrow." I. J. Bush, County health physician. Burglar Alarm Went Off. T. C. Lyons was in Juarez the other night seeing the sights. Of a sudden a pistol shot rang out and a crowd col lected at the front door of the bicycle store near tbe plaza. Investigation revealed the fact that a pistol had been discharged inside -the store and the bullet had penetrated the front door passing out into the street. It seems that a trap had been set lor burglars at tbe door. A six shooter had been placed in position with its muzzle pointing to the entrance and In such position that it would be discharged when the door was opened by burglars. Some person had thoughtlessly leaned against tbe door and caused tbe weapon to be dis charged. District Court Maria Chloulta, Adelina Gonzales. Juan a Estrada, and Alvine Jimenez were arrested by Officer Johnson, for vagrancy last night and were each fined five dollars by the recorder. Sara Robinson, one of the shining lights of the tenderloin, was arrested late yesterday afternoon by officers Rogers-and Clements for fighting and disturbing the peace. The other night there was organized in Lexington, Ky., a society which aims to be to the soldiers who enlisted in tbe Spanish-American' war what the Grand Army of the Republic has been to the Federal army of the oivil war. "The Service Men of the Spanish War" is the title of the new sooiety. and the plan of organization was con ceived by Captain Wilson L Davenny, commissary of 'subsistence of the First brigade, Second division, First army corps. Articles of incorporation have been drafted. This, the primal chapter, has been named Henry Clay camp. No. 1. The following officers were elected Commander, Colonel Leonard; vioe commander, Lieutenant Colonel Banks; adjutant and cbief of staff, Captain Davenny; treasurer, Colonel Gnnder. A ritual and regulations will be drafted. The plan of organization provides that the parent organization, Henry Clay camp. No. 1, shall be supreme in all matters pertaining to the ritual and regulations, organization of Dew camps and the general government of the so oiety until a national camp is organized. The units of organization shall be local camps, each to be named after some de ceased American soldier, sailor or states man and numbered in the order of their formation. Kansas City Times. .... The ladies in tbe surrounding townB are organizing basket ball teams and the Albuquerque Citizen has the fol lowing to say of a proposed match of this kind: Word was received today from the young ladies composing the basket ball team of the A. and M. college cf .Las Cruces, saying that they had accepted the invitation of the basket ball team of tbe university in this city to come here and play a game at the Armory ball on Tuesday evening of next week. They will accompany the foot ball play ers from the college and will reach here on Sunday night. Tbe members of the basket ball team in this city have gone to considerable expense in arranging for the game and there should be no difficulty in dispos ing of a sufficient number of tickets to reimburse them for their outlay. Ad' mission will be 50 cents. The game is a very interesting one and is well worth the price. of admission. Alamogordo Electric Light Scheme. It is learned that Alamogordo is to have a large electric light plant, and sixteen candle power lamps will be furnished at tbe rate of fifty cents for each light, to burn until twelve o'clock.
