O QOOOOOOOtOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO FOUND AN OLD FRIEND BT MEANS OF THE HERALD. A Texas Physician Who Was Mention ed in ihe Paper. Dr. J. M. Williamson of Stephenville, Texas, passed through this morning over the 6. P. on his way to Deming. At Deming he has a sort of medical student, a young physician who has been practicing under his preceptor ship, and the young doctor is now in bad health and Dr. Williamson is go ing to Deming to take his practice un til he recovers. Dr. Williamson passed through this city several . months ago and the fact was mentioned in The Herald. "That item caused me to get into correspondence with an old friend I had not seen for years," said the doc tor this mornin. "The man now lives in Arizona. He and I were neighbors in Mississippi years ago and when we both left that state we lost track of each other. I often thought of him and inquired after his location, but could get no trace of him. He saw my name in The Herald and wrote to me and the result was much pleasure to both of us." FAIR TELEPHONE OPERATORS AT CHICAGO ARE SHOCKED. The Chicago Telephone company is sued an order that all its girl employes be vaccinated on the leg. "It is not very pleasant or proper for an employ er to direct a young lady to be vacci nated on the leg," said one of the man agers, "but the health department nas notified to have all our people vacci nated, and with 300 girls vaccinated on the arm the telephone service would be badly crippled. If one arm is lame or sore the girls cannot handle the plugs' rapidly enough for the de mands of the service. Think of the whole force with lame arms. It would be worse than a breakdown after a sleet storm." A woman physician is already vacci nating the girls, many of whom de mur strongly. HACK HORSES RAN AWAT IN HEART OF CiTT. Quite a commotion was created in the heart of the city last night by the mad race of two horses drawing a heavy hack. The swaying vehicle went down San Antonio street like an arrow out of a bow; it swung round into El Paso street, barely missing a mule box that stood there, and when last seen the ponderous coach was still going south below the opera house. The runaway attracted the attention of the hundreds of persons who were on the streets at that hour. PRINTING INKS.
