oclook the laundry establishment oor
ner Fifth and Throckmorton streets and
with a small cottage adjoining were de
stroyed by fire
The laundry was known as the Swiss
steam laundry and was owned by Ed S
Leaohman It was totally destroyed as
well as the machinery in It
the loss being estimated at
3500 The cottage adjoining was the
property of Mrs Covender whoso loss
will reach nearly S1000 as much furni
ture was burned up
The origin is a mystery The only
reasonable explanation is incendiarism
though so far as known no person had
cause to purposely fire the places
The fire department did good work al
though the oompanles met adverse cir

and Stewart Irrigation was being
discussed and Mr Allison was
explaining tbe notion of the committee
Both Reagan and Stewart were waiting
for Allison to olose Each of those sen
ators has a fixed opinion on Maj Powell
and the geological survey and neither of
them has been known to miss an oppor
tunity to speak Each was
loaded to the muzzle with
documents and arguments Stewart
arose several times during Allisons re
marks and Reagan was very anxious
also that the Iowa senator should cease
speaking At last was evident Allison
