At the regular meeting of Friend; s-hlp Lodge, Knights of Pythias, Mon day night,, Mr. Russell Howard was again honored by being elected Chan ' ccllor Commander. Mr. Howard, who was the first member of this lodge to lill that station, made such an envi able record that the members showed their appreciation of his services by recalling him. After remaining tor a few days in New York he will doubt less leave for Newport, R. I., for the summer, returning to the former city in the fall. Miss Willie Page has completely re covered from her recent indisposition. Mrs. C. C. Cannon, who has been suffering from rheumatism, is much letter. Mr. Ulysses Bowman, of Memphis, has been visiting the city this week. Mr. Bowman is connected with the Chickasaw Dyeing . and Cleaning Works of that city, an institution which draws a liberal patronage from the citizens of the Bluff City. He re sided in Nashville a few years ago and while here made a host of friends, all of whom welcomed his return. Mr. Bowman is a great admirer of the Glole, expressing the opinion that it i3 the best paper that comes to Mem phis. Mr. and Mrs. W. 0. Tate, and their daughter, Mrs. Geo. 0. Boyd, of Eighth avenue, North, made a very profitable visit to the Baptist Publishing House Tuesday morning.
