We dropped in the Star the other
day, and really we must confess that
we were extremely highly elated
over the high-class photoplays pre
sented at this house. We must urge
our people to give their liberal sup
port to the Star not because it is
owned and controlled by Negroes,
but because they are showing pic
tures that are worth seeing. Mr. T.
Clay Moore is certainly to be con
gratulated on his high plane of man
agement. He sees that only the best
pictures are shown in his bouse.
Monday, a Pathe Serial, "Patrla,"
featuring Mrs. Vernon Castle will
be shown, and on Thursday another
Pathe Serial, "The Mystery of the1
Double Cross," will be shown. Free
ticket to ladles will be given on
these two days. "The Immortal
Flame" will be shown Friday. Get
in the habit of attending the Star.
THE BIJOU.
The Bijou Is still showing high
class ph-tures, and the people turn
out largely each day and night to see
the photo-plays. "Society Night"
every Friday night continues to be
popular and some feature picture is
shown.

with their patrons. Only high class

mittee of the National Baptist Con
vention (unincorporated) are hereby
called to meet In Nashville Thursday,
June 14th, at 10: Of) a. m., for ."the
purpose of transacting such business
as will come before the Executive
Committee, and for preparing the
program for -the next National Bap
tist Convention that is to be held in
Atlanta, Ga., during the month ol
September, 1917. All vice prest-(lents-at-lnrge
from each state and
territorial convention and elected of
ficers of the National Eaptist Conven
tion (unincorporated), the chairmen
and secretaries nf the various boards

mittee and are urged and expected
to he present. There will be reduced
rates from practically every state in
the 'United States to Nashville on ac
count of the Sunday School Congress.
It is therefore urged that the mem
bers take advantage of these rates
and purchase their rickets so as to
reach Nashville not later than noon
