Aaron O. Fay, tho well known Rio
Grande Western conductor has gone
to Seattle to look up a location.
R. 11. Sullivan, the weather man,
will probaby return from his eastern
trip the latter part of next week.
W. E. DeutsHi left this morning
over tho narrow guage to sell for
Bowman Brothers along the route.
Mrs. W. Eyanum and sister of Salt
Lake city arrived in the city yesterday
and will visit here daring the week.
Three good ball games will be
among the attractions at the fair
next week. Excellent teams will
cross bats.
Miss Anna Cotrell returned last
night from Glenwood after a visit
with her sister, Mrs. Katie Bender of
that place.
Messrs. Boyer and DeLaMar, orga
nizers for the Order of Washington,
return this evening from a trip up
tho narrow gauge.
Capt. J. A. Lyons was a member
of the G. A. R. delegation that left
this city this morning for Paouia to
attend the reunion.

her mother, Mrs. Patterson of Frank

A hunting party composed of Mr.
Reed and three other gentlemen re
turned today from a trip to Meeker
country. They killed four flue bucks
aud had a great time.
Conductor T. Couwav who owns and
resides on a fine ranch near Fruita is
in town fer a few days. Mr. Conway
was in the railroad service as a con
ductor for more than twenty years.
John Holland who rido9 for Bow
man Bros., in the Kauuah creek
country, was the victim of a serious
accident this morning which may
prove fatal. Ho was driving his
horse at a vory rapid rate when the
animal stumbled and fell, throwing
tlie ridor aud then falling npon him.
Mr. Holland received a hard blow
on the head. At noon he was still in
an unconscious condition. Ho is at
tho home of his father, Mike Holland
on Kauuah creek. Physicians from
this city wore summoned. The
.young man is twenty years of age,
and is well known here.

married in St. Louis September 20th

A Gila monster was received last
night from Arizona, the native home
of the venomous reptile, by C.C. Price,
the veterinary surgeon of this city.
The hideous creature is attracting
much attention. The sting of the
Gila is awlavs followed bv almost in

be man or beast.

of Commerce will be held this even

of the local G. A. R. post left on a
special car over the narrow* goage for |
Paouia to attend the annual reuuiou ;
of the Western Slope Veteran Associa- 1
tion. The veterans marched to the !
station in a body with colors flying !
and they presented a very handsome |
appearance. At Fruita the crowd was
joined by a delegation numbering
about 20. The reunion begins tomor

soldiers from almost every point on
the western slope will be in attend
ance and tho meeting is always a joy.
