Miss Blanche Burke, daughter of Professer Jehn Burke, Superintendent of the Public Schools, was one of the most popular young ladies of Newpert of finished education, rellned manners, and lively temperament, the pet of the house hold, and the joy of nil who knew her. She died Saturday after a two months' illness, of consumption of the bowels. On her deathbed it for the tlrst time became known te her intimate friends that she had been married since May, 1S90, te F. II Seuth ate, a young gentle man of that city. The levers kept their secret for several months from the knowledge of all ethers. But after a time it came te the knowledge of the parents of each, who readily ac quiesced in the wishes of their children te keep the matter secret until the young gentleman should graduate and enter the profession of medicine. He graduated Inst month, but the bride was tee sick te leave her father's house, and the secret was still withheld until she should gain strength. That time never came, and while the bride was still hopeful of life, and filled with joyful anticipation of happiness in her own home, the swift messenger came and bore her away. The grief of the young husband at his bereavement is inexpressible. DEATH OF A GOOD WOMAX. Mrs. Catharine Fleming Unexpectedly Summoned en Saturday Evening. At 11 o'clock Saturday night, with a suddenness that was startling. Mrs. Cath arine Fleming died at her home en Lime stone street near Fourth, aged 04. During the last year or se she had at intervals suffered from heart trouble, and these attacks had caused grave apprehen sions en the part of family nnd friends. On Saturday she had gene about her household duties as usual, and for awhile In the afternoon had been visiting among friends. As late ns 10 o'clock she was sitting up reading, premonition of the and there was no attack that proved fatal an hour later. Mrs. Fleming was born In the county Kilkenny, Irelaud, and with her husband, Edward Fleming, came te Maysville forty-two year age. She was the mother of seven children, but two of whom sur viveMrs. Mary Gilmere, wife of Michael R. Gilmere, and Miss Hannah Fleming. Her husband has been dead twenty-six years. Deceased was a kindly, Christian woman, who exemplified her religion in every-day life. She was always and under all circumstances een tempered, andfle one ever heard a harsh or hurtful word pass her lips about any human being. Peace te her ashes. The funeral will take place at half past 0 o'clock te-morrow morning from St. Patrick's Church. Graduated With High Honors. Among the large number of ladles and gentlemen who graduated at the Spen cerian Business College, Washington, D C, last Monday evening, it would have been strange had net Kentucky been represented; and it would have been stranger still had she net been icpresented by eue who would have reflected credit upon her while reaping honors for him self.
