Committees Appointed for the New Superior
Court Districts The Appellate Convention
State and Central Committee
Changes County Committees.
Louisville Ky., April 21, 1882. At a
meeting of the Democratic State Central
Committee, held April 21, 1S82, tho following
committees were appointed, with
authority to call conventions to nominate
candidates for judgeship of the Superior
Court from the several Superior
Court districts. As far as possible from the
Democratic State Committee:
First. Superior Court District Henry Burnett
of McCmckon, Chairman ; W. N. Sweeney, ol
Daviess; Crittenden Reeves, or Todd ; H. II.
Bklles, of Warren ; A. B. Montgomery, of
Hardin.
Second Superior Court District Thomas H.
Sherley, of Louisville, Chairman ; Lewis Baldwin,
of Jessamine; Sylvester Johnson, of Nelson;
John Whipps.ol Casey ; Joseph .Harbour,
ofTIeury.
Third Superior Court District W. J.
of Fleming. Chairman; Joseph M. D
of Floyd ; Charles J. Wallace, of Kenton ;
J. H. Mulligan, ol Faj'ette ; E. B. Wilholt.oi
Carter.
The subject of calling a convention in
the Appellate district to nominate a candidate
for judgeship of the Court of Appeals
was referred to the State committeemen
within said district.

Circular.
Democratic State Ceti:al Committee,
Louisville, April 24, 1882. The Democratic
State Convention which met in
Frankfort in January, 1882, provided the
following organization for the Democratic
party of the State of Kentucky :
First A State Committee composed of one
committeeman from each congicbsional district.
Second A State Central Committee composed
of seven commitlcmcn selected from the
State at large.
And by resolution provided for the appointment
of local committees as follows:
" It shall be the duty ol the County Conventions
ot the several counties to name to tho
State Central Committee the County or Legislative
District Committees for the several
county or legislative districts, and it shall be
the duty of State Central Committee to so appoint
the committee for said counties or legislative
"districts; but in the event of failure on
the part of any county convention to furnish
tho State Central Committe within a reasonable
time tho list of committee to be so named,
then tho State Central Committee shall appoint
said committee, and in all cases designate
the chairman of tho county or legislative
district committe."
At the first meeting of the State Central
Committee organized under the foregoing
resolution a circular was addressed
to the county and legislative district party
authorities requesting them to provide,
before May 1, 1882, for be appointment
of Executive Committees for the respective
county and legislative districts, as in the
event" of failure so to do it would, after
May 1st become the duty of the State Central
Committee to make the appointments.
At the recent meeting of the State Central
Committee, Hon. A. E. Richards,
Chairman, resigned, and Hon. John M.
Atherton was chosen Chairman in his place
and J. M. Wright was elected to the vacancy
on the committee thereby created.
At the same time Hon. AV. B. Machen
from committee and Hon. "W. J.
Stone, of Lyon county, was selected in his
place. The creation of a now congressional
district necessitating an increase in the
State Committee, Hon. James II. Mulligan,
of Fayette, was elected a member of
snid committee.
