One hundred and fifty millions of three and a half per cent, bonds have already been surrendered by National Banks alone, and there is every reason to believe the amount received from these banks will aggregate nearly $180,000,000. There is a movement at Paris to send a missionary preacher into the mountains of Eastern Kentucky. Capt. Thomas, of that city, who is often called by business into the mountains, said that $300 would secure the services of a minister, and started the subscription paper with $100 opposite his name. It would seem after all that the purposes of the Republican leaders, and protection barons, have been thwarted in the matter of the increase from 30 per cent, to 100 per cent., on knit goods. Senator Beck is authority for the statement that through some bungling among the republican managers it was not legally passed by the House. The London Times bays the English wheat crop is below the average ; that hay is short, and that only barley, beans, and root crops afford anything like a favorable showing. It sympathizes with the farmers, but the great crops in the United States will save the country from famine. The meaning Of this isthat England will depend largely on the United States for supplies of food. The Democrats ot Fleming County in instructing for Judge J. P. Harbeson for Congress adopted the following resolutions: Whereas, our Hon. Jan. P.
